An Important Update from CaptainU: New Ownership, Same Mission

Effective April 6, 2026, CaptainU has been acquired by MLQ Ventures LLC. What makes this transition particularly special is that MLQ Ventures LLC is led by a senior CaptainU staff member – someone who already knows this company, knows it’s mission, and knows you, our customers. This isn’t an outside takeover. It’s a continuation of leadership from within.

As many of you know, we recently returned to our original name – CaptainU. That name change was a homecoming, a return to the brand that athletes, families, and coaches trusted for 18 years. Now, paired with this new ownership, it marks the beginning of a new chapter that is firmly rooted in who we have always been.

Here is what this means for you: nothing changes about the CaptainU you know and love.

The name stays. The mission stays. The staff you’ve worked with and trusted stays. Our sole focus remains exactly what it has always been – helping high school athletes find their path to playing sports in college, and helping college coaches find the right athletes for their programs. That doesn’t change under new ownership. It never will.

What this new chapter does bring is a renewed commitment to updating our technology and services to better meet the needs of today’s athletes and coaches. We’ve always had the right mission. Now we’re investing in the tools and capabilities to serve that mission even more effectively in the years ahead.
